Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy
This page covers consumer health data as defined by Washington's My Health My Data Act, Nevada's SB 370 and similar state laws. It adds to the main privacy policy, which covers everything else Schlep collects.
What health data Schlep uses
- Your step count, read from Apple Health and from your iPhone's own step counter (Motion & Fitness), including about the last 30 days.
- Numbers worked out from it: the minutes of locked-app time your walking has earned, your balance, and your average steps.
How it is collected and used
Schlep reads your step count only after you allow it in Apple's Health and Motion & Fitness permission prompts. Unless you send a diagnostic report yourself, it uses your steps and the numbers worked out from them only on your iPhone, to count the screen time your walking has earned and to set up your plan. You can turn that access off at any time in iOS Settings.
Who it is shared with
From version 1.5, your step count and the numbers worked out from it are never sent off your iPhone on their own. We don't receive them unless you send a diagnostic report yourself, and they are never shared with anyone or sold.
One exception, and only when you choose it: Settings > Help > Apps not locking? > Send diagnostics sends one report that includes your step count for the day and the minutes worked out from it, and a TestFlight build's Share diagnostics switch sends the same report every time the app opens while it is on (on in the developer's own test builds, off in creator builds until turned on; either can be switched off). The report goes to Sentry (a service that processes data only for us), is used only to fix your problem, and is deleted after 30 days, or sooner if you ask. Nothing else ever sends them.
Versions 1.4 and earlier send one of those numbers, your minutes balance, to Mixpanel (the usage analytics service that processes data only for us) with the event recorded each time you spend minutes in the app. Version 1.5 stops that. To have those records deleted, email us from Settings > Contact Support in the app, as described in the privacy policy.
